Parks
Several neighborhood parks can be found throughout Blackfoot, furnishing residents with many places for outdoor recreation in any season.
Depot Park
Renovated in the fall of 2004, this park is adjacent to the former railroad depot used to house the Idaho Potato Museum and the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce offices. A walking tour meanders through historic potato harvesting equipment and includes a 1959 Union Pacific Railroad Caboose, purchased and restored in 1991 by the Historical Society.
Veterans Park
Featuring tanks and other army relics, this large park is dedicated to the Veterans of the United States. A covered shelter, picnic facilities and playground make this a favorite place to go for a picnic lunch or a family
reunion.
Courtyard Square
Surrounded by park benches, this park's waterfall and fountain feature persuades visitors to linger, enjoying the fresh air and view.
Jensen Grove
The crowning jewel in the Blackfoot park system owned and maintained by the City of Blackfoot, is Jensen Grove. A large picnic shelter and many picnic tables in the open are available to use for family reunions or business parties make this the location for the annual Independence Day Celebration sponsored by local businesses. This multi-functional park also provides many playground equipment stations to entertain the children and a skate park that is a model for surrounding communities. There is a two mile paved walking path, running the circuit of Jensen Lake, 55 acres of water which hosts many summer activities, including swimming, boating, and jet skiing.
Blackfoot Sports
The city boasts seven soccer fields, two lighted tennis courts, and many baseball and softball fields. These sports areas are in high demand throughout the entire summer season. The swimming pool hosts a YMCA swim team, and the two bowling lanes are busy with league bowling.
