Business Spotlight Bright Pest Management After working in the printing industry for 17 years and finding that my line of work was being squeezed out by computer technology, I found myself looking for a new career in the fall of 2002. While living in Phoenix, AZ, I started a new career in the pest control industry. I seemed to become quite successful as a technician with a well established family owned company. After spending some time on the job I knew I could run a successful business. Stephanie and I had longed to move back to Idaho where we had grown up to be near family. So we sold our home and moved in with my in-laws in Blackfoot, ID. We took all our increase from the sale of our home to invest in our pest control business. We bought the necessary items to begin, a used truck, pumping rig, hand sprayers, chemicals, printed items and some advertising. I called my new company Wolverine Canyon Pest Control llc, after the nearby ranching and recreation area just east of Firth, Idaho in which I spent many boyhood times camping, hunting, fishing and helping farmers push cows. We found out that many people felt it was a very long name to put on their checks and They also wanted to know what pests we were actually treating up in the canyon and where the business was located in that area. The name seemed to cause some confusion with a number of our clientele and prospective customers. We began thinking it was time for a name change to simplify things. After the first two years of running the business on my own, I needed the help of my wife to run the office while I ran the truck. After the first four years have gone by I felt that my wife¡¦s input and work in the office was invaluable and I decided to include her as a 51% owner. With this change we felt impressed to change the name, the looks and some of our services of our company. We changed the name to Bright Pest Management llc. We changed the look to include a bright sun burst with our name in the middle. We bought a beautiful new van that gives us better service capabilities. We changed our services by adding different service packages and a better personal service that other companies just don¡¦t give. We feel we will be one of the leaders in family owned pest control businesses in Southeast Idaho. Along with our regular Hobo spider service, we also treat: „X Cockroaches, bed bugs, and fleas. „X Gophers, skunks, bats and birds. „X Mosquitoes, flies and bees, „X Ground sterilize, weeds, grubs and fertilizer. „X Anything with 4, 6 or 8 legs, or wings. We service from Inkom to Island Park. We love the travel and the customers and are always willing to do our best to make them happy and feel safe.
