President’s Message Curtis Green What a wonderful year for the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce for 2008. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing President, Butch Hulse for his hard work and dedication to the chamber and the Blackfoot community. I know Butch will continue to be involved with the chamber, and I appreciate him for all he has done. I am looking forward to 2009. What a great opportunity to serve the community in the capacity of President of the Chamber of Commerce. I want you all to know that I will do my best to promote business in our great town of Blackfoot. I have a strong belief in supporting local business when possible. Blackfoot is growing, and we have the opportunity to continue the positive growth by spending our dollars locally. We have had several new businesses come to our community in 2008. We have a large business base, with large and small businesses offering numerous products and services. I am proud to be a member of the Blackfoot Community. 2009 will bring changes to the Chamber; I would like to welcome the 7 new members to the board of directors. It is my hope that with the new members as well as the returning members we will be able to institute new programs that will help the continued growth of the Blackfoot Business Community. I have had the opportunity to attend several concerts at the Blackfoot Performing Arts center, what a magnificent resource for our community. I would encourage you all to take the opportunity to attend the performances with your family and friends. I feel it will be time well spent, and believe you will feel the same after attending a performance. I enjoyed attending the live nativity at Jensen’s grove. It is great to see the many religious denominations work together to promote Christmas Spirit, and unity in our community. Our schools offer many educational opportunities for our youth. Concerts, Athletic activities, clubs, etc; I am delighted for the opportunity to support these and other community activities. I moved to Blackfoot 26 years ago. In 2005 I started my own business. At that time I joined the Chamber. It has been a great experience to get to know the members of the Blackfoot business community. I want you to know it is my goal as President of the Blackfoot Chamber to listen to your suggestions, work with you the Blackfoot business community in implementing changes that will make Blackfoot a stronger, and better place to live and do business. I would ask you all for your help and support in the upcoming year. I am here to serve not only the Blackfoot Chamber members, but all businesses in Blackfoot. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, January 10, 2009 to attend Winterfest at Jensen’s Grove and January 23, 2009 to attend the Presidents dinner at the Shilling House Reception Center. I look forward to a prosperous and rewarding new year for all Blackfoot Chamber members. |
