Gold’s Gym

Start becoming a healthier you, come into Gold's Gym today for a FREE week pass, and make sure you use your FREE relaxing hydro massage trial. Call Logan @ 785-4338 if you have any questions. If you can’t make it into the gym in person, the Gold’s Gym Fitness Institute is offering these free fitness tips to help keep consumers trim this holiday season:

1. Go Ahead and Snack! Eat a low-fat snack before you load your plate for dinner or head out to a holiday party. If you are extremely hungry right before your meal, you’ll tend to overeat and indulge in high-fat foods you may otherwise not.

2. Get Moving - It's Not Too Late. Even if you haven’t been on a consistent fitness regimen, it’s not too late to start small. Start by adding 20 minutes of cardiovascular activity to your normal weekly routine about 3 times a week. A brisk walk, a 20 minute trek on a stationary bike…anything that will get your heart rate up and burn calories will work. This will increase your energy level and resting metabolic rate, which will burn off more calories while you’re resting and make you less likely to binge on those tempting holiday cakes and cookies.

3. Step It Up! If you’re already in a consistent fitness routine, step your normal routine up a notch and you’ll be able to indulge without the guilt! Try adding an additional 20-minute strength training routine to your normal workout or an extra 15 minutes to your typical cardio regime. You may also want to try adding an additional day to your routine with a group exercise class like group cycling or yoga.

4. Do Your Chores. Shoveling snow, working in the garden, raking leaves, sweeping the floor...these kinds of activities may not be 'vigorous' exercise, but they can keep you moving while getting your house in order before your guests arrive.

5. Choose Your Turkey Wisely. The next time somebody asks you if you would like white meat or dark meat, know how to make the wise calorie saving choice. White meat has 24 grams of protein per 3-ounce serving and half as much fat as dark meat. And a simple tip for reducing your calorie intake even more is to leave the skin behind.

6. Keep Your Eye On The Pie. You don't have to pass on your slice of pie, but be wise about your choice. Go for the pumpkin pie, which has less calories than pecan pie

Pocatello Regional Airport

HELICOPTER FLIGHT SCHOOL COMES TO POCATELLO REGIONAL
Company to Offer Career Training as Commercial Helicopter Pilot

A helicopter flight training company that offers students a fast-track to the exciting world of a commercial helicopter pilot has established a new school at Pocatello Regional Airport and will be operational by the first of the year. The company currently has two locations in Utah and one in Idaho Falls.

Utah Helicopter, of Spanish Fork, Utah, will begin helicopter flight training operations in January, 2009. “We’re very excited that Utah Helicopter is coming to Pocatello,” said Airport Manager David Allen. “Their presence will enhance both the aviation and the economic development aspects of the airport.” Allen said the most notable impacts will be a significant increase in air traffic activity counts and fuel sales.

The company plans to start with one Robinson R-22 helicopter, eventually adding a second R-22 and a larger R-44 helicopter used for instrument training. Five students are already signed up, and Allen said the company expects to have 20 students by the end of their first year. “Utah Helicopters promotes a Career Pilot Program that is designed to quickly train students to become commercial helicopter pilots. There is a shortage of helicopter pilots already and more applications for helicopter operations are being developed. Utah Helicopter fills a valuable aviation niche by providing the market with new career pilots.”

Utah Helicopters plans to offer seminars about the program starting in December and to have a grand opening January 5, 2009. Their offices will be located at 1503A Flightline Avenue, just west of the passenger terminal. For more information, contact the Utah Helicopter main office in Spanish Fork at 801-794-2470.
